I have two simple questions about Super 8 filmmaking that I'm sure you guys could answer quite easily:
1. I have a Sankyo 300XL and would like to modify it with a lens of some kind that would allow me to zoom and focus extreme close-ups (ie. a macro zoom?). How easy would it be to get one? Would I have to get one made for me at very high cost?
2. The easier question: Is it possible to get Super 8 film converted to a digital file to edit in Final Cut Pro on a Mac? How expensive is it?
thanks for your help.

1) Get a camera that already has macro built in.
2) try http://www.moviestuff.tv/transfers.html

You don't buy close up "filters". You buy close up lenses. They screw onto the front of your regular lens just like a filter. They come in one diopter increments and can be stacked. I have a set of three (1,2 & 3 diopters) for my 35mm Pentax. With all three of them stacked together I can get a postage stamp to fill the frame and still be in focus.
If your camera has treads for filters then it's just a question of finding a set that will match the threads on your lens (or finding a stepping ring). At worst you can jury rig some system of holding them in front of your regular camera lens. You will need a camera with reflex focusing.
Quite a few camera shops carry these things. I think they are often referred to as "diopters" or "diopter lenses", although that's something of a misnomer. A new set of three will set you back $50 to $100.
Here's an example from eBay. This particular set probably will not fit your camera but it's the sort of thing you'd be looking for.

Yeah, well, you don't "buy" close up lenses - you steal 'em.
C'mon guys. What's wrong with you? We're all dealin' with limited budgets here, right?
